Building on Our Investment in Downtown Louisville
The historic Wright Taylor Building, home to Mercury Ballroom, is entering its next chapter—and could help fund the next chapter of Weyland Ventures’ work in Louisville.
Louisville Business First recently spoke with CEO Lee Weyland about the decision to list the property for sale for $4.5 million and how the proceeds would support continued investment in housing and other Downtown projects.
Weyland Ventures purchased the building in 2005 as part of a broader redevelopment effort surrounding the Henry Clay. Following renovations, Mercury Ballroom opened in 2014, bringing new energy to the historic Fourth Street property. Today, the venue is leased by Live Nation through 2036.
The proposed sale reflects a focused approach to our portfolio: creating opportunities for new ownership of established properties while freeing capital for projects where we can make our next contribution.
That work includes converting the former Jefferson County Fiscal Court building into apartments, renovating the Henry Clay and advancing Phase 2 of The Yard Residential in NuLu.
“We want to use this sale to accelerate those investments and double down on Louisville,” Lee told Louisville Business First.
For Weyland Ventures, bringing historic buildings back to life has always been part of a larger commitment to the neighborhoods around them. This opportunity builds on that work and supports our continued investment in Louisville’s future.
