Clockworks Redevelopment in Clarksville, Indiana
Weyland Ventures has unveiled plans for Clockworks, an ambitious long-term redevelopment of the former Colgate-Palmolive manufacturing campus in Clarksville, Indiana — a transformative project that could represent up to a $500 million investment in Southern Indiana over the next two decades.
Located on a 57-acre historic industrial site along the Ohio River corridor, Clockworks is envisioned as a vibrant mixed-use district that blends historic preservation, hospitality, sports tourism, entertainment, housing, public gathering spaces, and adaptive reuse.
The project takes its name from the site’s iconic 38-foot illuminated clock — a landmark that has defined the Clarksville skyline for generations and will remain a centerpiece of the redevelopment.
“Clockworks is about honoring the history of this place while creating something entirely new for the future of Southern Indiana,” said Bill Weyland, Chief Strategy Officer of Weyland Ventures. “This site has always been a landmark. Our goal is to transform it into a destination.”
The conceptual master plan includes:
- Two Marriott-branded hotels with approximately 320 total rooms
- A conference and event center designed to support regional tourism and conventions
- Restaurants, retail, coworking, apartments, and entertainment venues
- Public courtyards, fountains, greenspaces, and pedestrian-focused gathering areas
- A large-scale indoor and outdoor sports complex featuring basketball, volleyball, wrestling, cheer, training, and soccer facilities
The development plan prioritizes adaptive reuse of the site’s historic architecture, including former industrial buildings and remnants of the original Indiana State Prison structures that predated Colgate’s ownership of the property.
Renderings of the conceptual master plan show walkable streetscapes, activated public commons, open-air marketplaces, restored industrial elements, and community-centered gathering spaces designed to create a true sense of arrival.
Clockworks also represents a major opportunity for regional tourism growth. Weyland Ventures is partnering with local and state stakeholders as plans move forward, including discussions surrounding tourism infrastructure, conference facilities, and historic redevelopment incentives.
The project reflects Weyland Ventures’ longstanding approach to development: identifying historic anchors and reimagining them as catalysts for neighborhood and community revitalization. Previous adaptive reuse projects by the firm include Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory, Whiskey Row Lofts, and Glassworks.
Additional project details, timelines, and partnership announcements will be shared as planning and development progress.
